Grading Information

SDUHSD grading practices are outlined in Board 政策 & Administrative Regulation 5121 成绩-Evaluation of Student Achievement.
 
All enrolled students and parents/guardians may view student classes and grades through the 一系列反思 online student information system portal. Any questions regarding current grades should be directed to the student's teacher. 父母/guardians may request student academic records from the school registrar. 
Grade Reporting  Following the yearly SDUHSD Grade Reporting 时间表, at the end of each marking period, reports displaying students' grades in each 课程 are shared with parents/guardians. 

Course Add/Drop Windows  学生 may follow school processes to request to add, 下降, or withdraw from 课程s with parent permission during established windows each term per the yearly SDUHSD Add/Drop Guidelines & 时间表.
 
Grade Point Average (GPA)  The Superintendent or designee shall calculate each student's GPA using the grade point assigned to each letter grade in accordance with the scale described in the AR section "成绩 for Academic Performance”. The grade points for all applicable 课程work completed shall be totaled and divided by the number of 课程s completed. Pass, Incomplete and Withdraw marks shall not be included in the determination of a student's GPA. When plus and minus designations are added to letter grades, they shall not be considered in determining GPA. (AR 5121)

All student grades are posted to the 一系列反思 成绩 screen during the grade reporting window dates. 
 
The middle school academic record shows two middle school grade point averages:
  • 总平均绩点 - Includes every 课程 taken in grades 7-8.
  • Academic GPA - Includes all 课程s taken in 7-8, except PE and 课程s graded with a Pass/Fail.
 
成绩 earned in middle school are not factored into the high school grade 9-12 transcript or GPA. No high school credit will be granted for 课程s taken in middle school. Approved 课程(s) in mathematics and language other than 英语 may be used to fulfill prerequisites or certain college entrance requirements. 成绩单 - 为 each student in grades 9-12, the district shall maintain a transcript recording the 课程s taken, the term that each 课程 was taken, credits earned, final grades, and date of graduation. (AR 5125)
 
Current high school students and parents can access grades and graduation status through the 一系列反思 portal. 
 
There are three types of GPA on the SDUHSD high school transcript:
  • 总平均绩点 9-12 - Includes every 课程 taken in grades 9-12.
  • Academic GPA 9-12 - Includes all 课程s taken in 9-12, except PE and 课程s graded with a Pass/Fail.
  • Academic GPA 10-12 - Includes all 课程s taken in 10 -12, except PE and 课程s graded with a Pass/Fail.
 
为 high school graduation requirements, students earn credit for 课程s completed with a D grade or higher. To meet college admission requirements, students must earn a C grade or higher in most cases.* 为 D or F grades, with approval students may repeat the exact same 课程 in order to earn a higher grade. Both grades earned shall be recorded on the student's transcript, but the student shall receive credit on the transcript only once for taking the same 课程. If a student repeats the exact same 当然,the highest grade earned shall be used in determining the student's overall GPA.  Pass/Fail and Withdraw marks (Ws) are not factored into the GPA calculation. 
 
*Please note each college determines its own GPA calculation formula for admission. Families should access college admission websites for specific information provided directly by the college. 为 example, the California State University (CSU)/University of California (UC) admission GPA is based on final grades in 课程work from summer 后 9th through summer 后 11th grade in all "A-G" approved 课程s only. 学生 may earn an extra point for each semester of a 课程 weighted by UC, with a maximum of 8 points between 10th and 11th grades.

考试 - 大学 entrance exam, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate exam scores are not posted on the SDUHSD transcript and must be ordered directly from the testing organizations. Scores on outside exams do not factor into GPA. 为 more information, visit the 评估 页面.
 
The high school profile provides information about the school program, including 课程 offerings, graduation requirements, GPA distribution, and the fact that SDUHSD does not rank students. The profile accompanies any transcript that is released and it is publicly posted on the high school website each year.  
Summer Coursework

Summer Coursework

  • 8年级: Preapproved summer 课程s must be begun 后 the last day of 8th grade is completed in order to be considered part of the grade 9 academic record and are posted as summer term grades on the high school transcript. 
  • 9 - 12年级: Preapproved 课程s completed during the summer are posted as summer term grades on the high school transcript.
